Help for Families Experiencing Homelessness

If you and your family are experiencing homelessness, call 211info toll free by dialing 2-1-1 and learn about available services including emergency and transitional housing as well as support services to assist with permanent housing.

Help for Youth Experiencing Homelessness

If you are homeless, under the age of 25 and looking for shelter, safety off the streets, or other crisis services, please contact the Access Center at 503-432-3986 on a 24-hour basis. Please visit the Homeless Youth Services website for more information.

The Homeless Youth Continuum consists of services and supports geared toward helping youth lead safe and healthy lives and become productive members of the community. Services include a 24-hour access and assessment center; alcohol and drug services; emergency and short-term shelter; transitional housing; and related support-services.

Runaway Youth

If your child (age 17 and under) has run away from home, and you need crisis intervention or family mediation and reunification services, please first call the Portland Police Non-Emergency line. Their phone number is 503-823-3333.

Harry's Mother, a Janus Youth Program, is the primary youth crisis center in the Portland metropolitan area. They can provide 24-hour crisis support, emergency shelter and counseling for both children and families. Their 24-hour crisis line can be reached by calling 503-233-8111.

In addition, they provide a 24-hour, seven-day Reception Center, which is a collaboration between Multnomah County Department of Human Services, the Portland Police, and the Juvenile Services Division of the Department of Community Justice. The Reception Center provides a safe environment for youth to reunite with parents or guardians.

Winter Shelter & Homeless Services

In partnership with other City bureaus, Multnomah County and community partners, the Joint Office of Homeless Services coordinates winter and severe weather shelter and day services for individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.

For the most up-to-date information on winter shelter and assistance, call 211info by dialing 2-1-1. In Multnomah County, the call line is open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 2 to 10 p.m. weekends.

Please note: The call hours listed above are only during winter. In April they return to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Help for Domestic Violence Survivors 

If you are experiencing domestic violence and need help, learn about available resources, including shelter information and Call to Safety (formerly Portland Women's Crisis Line), a 24-hour helpline providing resources and support for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, at 503-235-5333 or toll-free at 1-800-235-5333.
