Homelessness in Portland

The point-in-time count of homelessness in Portland and Multnomah County provides a bi-annual snapshot of the individuals and families experiencing homelessness on a given night in our community. The data collected from the count ensures our community’s continued eligibility for state and federal funding and helps the City of Portland, Multnomah County and their nonprofit partners plan for the funding and services needed to meet the needs of people experiencing homelessness in our community.

Data for the point-in-time count comes from the Street Count, which is sponsored by the Joint Office of Homeless Services, and the One Night Shelter Count, which is sponsored by Multnomah County. The City, County, and hundreds of community partners work together to gather the data for the counts and produce a comprehensive summary report.

The last point-in-time count was January 28, 2015. The next point-in-time count is tentatively scheduled for January 25, 2017.
