About Workforce & Economic Opportunity Workgroup

In October 2014, the Workforce & Economic Opportunity Workgroup was created as a subcommittee of the Coordinating Board and charged with developing an action plan to increase the alignment of employment and housing support for people who are experiencing homelessness, precariously housed or formerly homeless. Within one year, meet 1/3 of the need by providing employment and housing support for 440 households, of whom at least 50% will be families or individuals of color. The action plan includes policy and funding recommendations from the workgroup’s analysis of the need and what it would take to build a system to begin to address that need.

The AHFE Action Plan Workgroups were reconvened in October 2015, as part of the Coordinating Board's outcome-based budgeting process to prioritize investment priorities from the AHFE Action Plan strategies for the next fiscal year. The Workforce & Economic Opportunity workgroup presented their prioritized funding recommendations to the Coordinating Board in November 2015, which informed the recommendations presented to and accepted by the Executive Committee in December 2015.

Going forward, the Workforce & Economic Opportunity Workgroup will oversee implementation of policy recommendations regarding alignment of employment and housing work, review emerging best practices evidence, monitor local initiatives, develop shared advocacy strategy, shape employment/housing related budget recommendations.

Membership

There is currently no formal membership. Participation ranges from 10-20, representing providers and agencies, government departments, service users, and other community members.
